Over much of the last year, I have had the pleasure of organizing and curating Twenty-Three Sisters, a group exhibition at Gallery 1308 in Madison.
The show features the aforementioned number of female artists, none of whom has a sister, and asks them to respond to that absence. Artists from across the country contributed paintings, prints, sculptures, and video work. The exhibition was a unique opportunity to engage with fellow female artists and consider our work in relation to one another.
An opening reception was held on Friday, August 8, and the show is open daily until September 30, 2014. You can read more about the exhibition in this interview with Arts Extract, and in a brief preview on Terrace Views.
